The Wild Bunch - Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.
Born George Lercy Parker (1867 - 1911) and Harry Longbaugh, this notorious pair of cattle rustlers of the mid 1890s, gained fame as the "gentlemen bandits" and leaders of the train and bank robbing "Hole in the Wall Gang." Parker learned to ride, rope and shoot from Mike Cassidy, in whose honor he changed his name. After the September 1900 Winnemucca Bank robbery in Nevada, the gang purchased stylish new clothes and had this group portrait taken and sent a copy to the bank - Winnemucca still celebrates "Butch Cassidy Day" every Fall. (Left to right: Harry "Sundance Kid" Longbaugh, Will Carver, Ben Kilpatrick, Harvey "Kid Curry" Logan, Butch Cassidy Parker.)
Photograph taken in Fort Worth, Texas, 1900.
